Disasters Emergency Relief

World Aid Network’s standing fund supports emergency essentials through local partners in Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia. It is not the Disasters Emergency Committee, does not run search-and-rescue, and does not fund reconstruction, livelihoods, medical clinics or cash grants.

Published eligible uses

What can the gift support?

01

Food

Emergency food after disasters, according to assessed need and local access.

02

Water and hygiene

Clean drinking water and hygiene kits where normal water and sanitation have been disrupted.

03

Temporary shelter

Shelter materials and warmth for displaced families; not permanent reconstruction.

04

Local delivery

Partner buying and distribution near affected communities, subject to access and capacity.

Needs and costs vary by household and incident. Suggested gifts are contributions rather than guaranteed quantities of meals, kits or shelter materials.

Why a standing emergency fund can help

Disasters do not follow a fundraising calendar. A standing fund allows trustees to assess needs and release available money without waiting for a new public campaign for every incident.

That does not guarantee immediate delivery. Cut roads, remote locations, local availability and partner capacity can all affect timing. Donors should read current reports rather than infer delivery from the existence of the fund.

Choosing between country and standing appeals

Use the Malaysia Floods Appeal when you specifically want the published Malaysia restriction. This standing fund covers emergency relief across Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia.

The source says its Humanitarian Appeal, Crisis Appeal and Disasters Emergency Relief use the same standing fund and restriction. Separate eye-surgery and cancer programmes exist for medical treatment.

Share the context, not only the link.

Read the emergency fund’s eligible uses, country coverage and reporting status. Sharing the scope helps prevent confusion about what donations fund.

FAQ

Questions about this appeal.

Answers follow the checked source and preserve its limitations.

Is this the Disasters Emergency Committee?

No. This is World Aid Network’s separate Disasters Emergency Relief appeal. The Disasters Emergency Committee is a different UK organisation.

Does this fund medical care or reconstruction?

No. The fund is restricted to emergency food, clean water, hygiene kits and temporary shelter. Treatment and reconstruction need separate programmes.

Should I send clothes or bottled water from the UK?

Usually money is more useful unless a partner requests an item in writing. International parcels can be slow and costly; local partners can buy what is needed nearby.
