Malaysia Floods Appeal

This is World Aid Network’s standing emergency relief appeal for Malaysia. Local partner organisations buy and deliver emergency essentials. The appeal does not rebuild homes, send cash to individuals or guarantee a response time.

Published eligible uses

What can the gift support?

01

Emergency food

Contributions towards food suited to assessed household needs and local availability.

02

Clean drinking water

Safe drinking water for families affected by flooding; this is not a well-building appeal.

03

Hygiene kits

Hygiene supplies sit alongside water support because flooding can contaminate normal supplies.

04

Temporary shelter

Shelter materials and emergency accommodation support—not reconstruction or cash grants.

Money is generally more useful than sending parcels from the UK unless a partner has requested specific items in writing. Local buying supports nearby suppliers and avoids international shipping delays.

Why monsoon preparedness matters

MetMalaysia identifies November, December and January as the months of maximum rainfall for the east coast states of Peninsular Malaysia. Heavy rain spells also affect western Sarawak and the north-east coast of Sabah during the Northeast Monsoon.

The official appeal cites a late-November 2025 AHA Centre update reporting 20,357 displaced people and 125 evacuation centres across eight states. Those figures describe the disaster at that time, not families reached by World Aid Network.

How support is intended to reach families

After need is assessed, trustees release funds to local partners who buy supplies nearby and deliver them. Timing depends on need, road access, available funds and partner capacity; no fixed arrival time is promised.

This Malaysia page is restricted to flood relief in Malaysia. It is separate from the wider three-country Disasters Emergency Relief fund and from eye-surgery programmes.

FAQ

Questions about this appeal.

Answers follow the checked source and preserve its limitations.

Does this appeal rebuild homes?

No. It is restricted to emergency food, clean water, hygiene kits and temporary shelter. Reconstruction, medical care and cash grants are outside this appeal.

When is flood risk usually highest?

MetMalaysia gives November, December and January as maximum-rainfall months for Peninsular Malaysia’s east coast states. Conditions vary, so use current official weather and disaster guidance.

Can I give monthly?

Yes. The official appeal offers one-off and monthly gifts. A monthly gift is a programme contribution, not a claim that supplies are already positioned.
